Easter Bonnet

We have had some amazing Easter Bonnets over the years and some absolutely OTT! This year we opted to keep it simple with our egg box carton flowers (see previous post)  We had plenty of the painted up flowers and also we get to create another Craft Make Play craft with a recycle element which we all know is super important and the kids love it too!

  • bonnet (we picked ours up £1.50 at The Range)
  • egg  box cartons
  • hot glue gun
  • paint and brushes
  • scissors
  • ribbon 1m (cut to make 2 x 50cm lengths)

How to:

Start off by cutting our your flowers and petals from the egg box carton

Lay out your flowers and paint them and then leave to dry

Whilst your flowers are drying you can fix your ribbon using the hot glue gun to the inner sides of your bonnet

When your flowers are dry arrange and glue

WOW! you’re done and ready to hunt out those eggs!

Egg Box Jewellery

The purpose – where I start – is the idea of use. It is not recycling, it’s reuse. – Issey Miyake

What was once a regular egg box carton can be transformed into something beautiful….

Here is all you need:

  • egg box carton
  • scissors
  • paint
  • ribbon
  • hair clips
  • piece of card to mount your cut shapes onto
  • hot glue gun (pva is fine too but you’ll need patience!)

Firstly gather your egg boxes and scissors and then cut out leaf shapes from the egg box lid and from the egg holder sections you can cut and shape these into flower.

Paint and wait to dry

When your pieces are dry you can then arrange them and mount them onto the piece of card. We used a semi circle shape and then fixed the leaves and flowers with hot glue, regular PVA glue can be used but the drying time will take longer.

Ribbon was added to create a neckpiece and a clip for the hair piece, again we used the hot glue gun for fixing.

You can see here that pieces can be fixed inside pieces to create interesting blooms. Now all we need is a bigger jewellery box!
